Apollo appoints Brian Chu to lead operational value creation platform APPS
Apollo Global Management has named Brian Chu as Partner and Head of Apollo Portfolio Performance Solutions (APPS), the firm’s in-house platform dedicated to driving operational value.
Chu brings more than two decades of experience in operational leadership and private equity, most recently as Senior Managing Director and Co-Head of Portfolio Operations at Centerbridge Partners.
He previously held senior roles at Bain Capital and in technology and operations.
In his new role, Chu will oversee APPS’ 35-member team of operating partners and functional specialists. He is tasked with scaling Apollo’s value-creation model, which focuses on digital transformation, AI adoption, supply chain optimisation, and commercial excellence across portfolio companies.
Apollo Partners Antoine Munfakh and Michele Raba, who lead private equity in North America and Europe respectively, said: “As our industry increasingly recognises that outperformance will be driven by improving businesses rather than expanding multiples, the role of APPS has never been more crucial.”
Chu commented: “Apollo has built one of the most effective operating platforms in the industry, known for its deep alignment with management and relentless focus on business transformation. I’m honoured to join this talented team and to carry forward the APPS mission—accelerating growth through investments in technology, talent, and commercial excellence.”
Aaron Miller, who led APPS since 2019, will become Chairman until his planned retirement at the end of 2026. He will continue to advise on strategy and support select high-impact projects.
As of March 31, 2025, Apollo managed $785bn in assets, underlining its scale and operational reach across global private equity markets.
